Leather Heavy Duty Mobility Harness

We have redesigned the Leather Heavy Duty Mobility Harness to give it more stability and an enhanced fit on the dog.  By adding a larger triangle shaped padded chest plate the harness has become more stable and it gives the dog better constancy in supporting the handlers weight. The leather padded chest plate is padded with thick real shearling.  It is comfortable for the dog, and when the harness is used for pulling, it leaves less strain on the dog’s chest.  There are three straps from the chest plate connected to the harness so it can be positioned correctly and securely.  This chest plate will not slip down on the dog.

 

The back plate that hold the handle has been moved forward to rest on the dogs’ shoulders.  When I train a dog to do the “Steady Command” I teach the dog to plant its shoulders firmly to support the handler’s weight.  This is so important to help its disabled handler getting up and down from a sitting position or getting up onto a sidewalk curb.  A dog’s shoulders is where the dog has the most stability and balance.  It is safer for the dog to have the handlers weight put there rather than the dogs back.

This all-Leather Heavy Duty Mobility Harness is made of soft, supple latigo leather. It is not split leather but full Latigo leather. It is a durable, flexible, softer leather and it breaks in faster. It is dyed solid all the way through, so it will not fade. Because of the conditioners that are infused with oils during the process latigo leather is almost waterproof.  It will not dry out like most harness leather.  It can be easily cleaned and oiled after use.  Straps are edged and grooved for a professional finish.

The chest plate and back plate are padded with thick genuine sheepskin for your dog’s comfort.

The heavy-duty handle structure is designed in a three section, stand-up construction. This is very functional as you can position you hand were most needed.  It is solid and sturdy. The handle is about 5 inches tall and approximately 4.5 inches long. The handle is riveted 8 times into the back plate of the harness, and has 2 D-rings, on the back plate.  The two D-rings behind the handle of the back plate can be used to attach a bridge handle (sold separately). 

There is a center position D-ring located at the back of the harness so you can attach a leash to the harness.  By being at the back of the harness the leash will not get in the way of using the handle.  I use a short leash to leave on the harness.  This is handy should you need quick use of the dog.

The harness comes with a beautiful engraved black tag with the words “SERVICE DOG”.  The tag is riveted on one side of the back plate.  There is a clear vinyl pocket stitched and mounted on the back plate for your ID.  The pocket closes tightly so you won’t lose the ID.

All five straps, girth, chest and underbelly belts are adjustable. This is done with metal roller buckles that open completely to easily take the harness on & off.  Having the underbelly strap (goes between the front legs) adjustable and able to shorten or lengthen is great because you can compensate for the distance behind the dog’s front legs, where the girth strap sets. This is safety to the dog because if the girth strap is too close to the dog’s front legs it will rub and not be comfortable for the dog to work.  This Leather Heavy Duty Harness will fit a grith from 24” to 39”.  Made in USA.
